LOVE: Fajas

 - by admin

Before there was Spanx, there were FAJAS and fajas are no strangers to Latinas. Yes, some of us are blessed with curves even the Coke bottles envy, but the rest of us may need a little help sucking it in, and Fajas do the trick giving your flabby stomach the illusion of flat abs. They make you look like JLO even if in reality you are an elephant in a pink tutu. Okay, okay, not quite, but we’re close. I swear.

LOVE: Ignacio Serricchio

 - by admin

Latinos LOVE the Super SEXY Argentinian actor and comedian, Ignacio Serricchio (born April 19, 1982). He is also a graduate from Syracuse University where he was a drama major. We are in LOVE! He is so funny and it doesn’t hurt that he is HOT, so even if he weren’t funny (but he is!) we would still laugh. When he is not in a comedy club you can catch him in some episodes of CSI: Miami and Ghost Whisperer.

LOVE: Agua de Florida

 - by admin

Latinos LOVE Agua de Florida. Agua de Florida is usually used for spiritual rituals, healing, and cleansing the homes to get rid of evil spirits. There are people out there who feel someone is out to get them and they shower themselves with this fragrance leaving that unpleasant spicy alcohol smell behind as they pass you by. The other day I went to a bodega and the older guy next to me must have poured at least half a bottle of this thing on him, because just standing next to him suffocated me. Many Latinos use it to keep demons  away, but some people abuse it as if it were the lastest Calvin Klein cologne on the market. Eew!

LOVE: Aqua Net

 - by admin

Latinos LOVE Aqua Net Hairspray. I probably went through hundreds of bottles of this hairspray in the 90s. Oh yeah, Snooki had nothing on me (at the least I outgrew it). In all fairness to my coiffure, everyone I knew and their momma used Aqua Net. And I am a Jersey girl, if that means anything to you. I can affirm Latinos love this hairspray. In fact, we love it so much we can be held responsible for most of the damage the ozone layer has suffered. I’m just sayin’!

LOVE: Paulo Coelho

 - by admin

Latinos LOVE the amazing and authentic writer, Paulo Coelho, Coelho is a Brazilian lyricist and novelist who has inspired millions through his beautiful work. Born on August 24, 1947 in Rio de Janeiro was just the beginning of life, one that had a special journey destined for him to embark on. He has lived a unique lifestyle as he struggled to makes his dreams come true. His dream was always to become a writer and that dream became a reality. Read his bio to learn how he survived being in a mental institution, dropped out of law school, and led life as a hippie giving him the wisdom he now possesses and passes on to us. Which is your favorite book by Coelho? Mine is “The Alchemist.”

LOVE: Las Pastillas McCoy

Latinos LOVE las Pastillas McCoy. They are Cod/Fish Liver Oil Extract Dietary Supplement Tablets that come in the color pink and are known (according to some) to clear acne and prevent allergies. I cannot attest to this, but do admit they are a Latino favorite!

LOVE: Radiola & Tocadiscos

 - by admin

Latinos LOVE Radiolas and Tocadiscos (record players & phonographs). I recall my father had one of them that was the size of a casket. Actually, on the photo above, I’m the one with the white dress sitting on top of it with my sister. (That photo is about 17 years old *ahem*) ;) This was my father’s most prized possession. I dare say he loved that tocadisco more than what he loved me. When my mom made him throw it away (years later), he cried! Shoot, I used to love it too! I would listen to all of my MENUDO songs thanks to this giganormous thing…Subete a mi motooo!♫ Below is a picture of the smaller more modern ones similar to that disc jockeys use today.

Spanking Other People’s Children

 - by admin

Latinos LOVE spanking other people’s children. See, Latinos think they are gods of ethics. If your child has a behavioral problem, leave it up to a Latino to scold and spank your child teaching them morale because obviously you are doing a terrible job at it if your child does not know how to behave. If you don’t want other people to scold or spank your children, discipline them. Right? No? Well that’s most certainly the Latino mentality. We want to instill strong values in strangers thinking we are doing them a favor. You know what the funny thing about all of this is? You may feel it is okay to hit someone else’s child, but if somebody hits your child, then it is a different story. *lol* My father had a friend that if his kids misbehaved, he’d spank his child and his son’s friends who did the prank with him. The man was a total maniac! When I told him (I was a wise teen ;) ) that it was not right for him to do that, attempting to school me by using himself as a good example, he said, “My parents beat me up all the time and look how I turned out!” My point exactly. The guy was a lost case!

LOVE: Emmanuel

 - by admin

Latinos LOVE the very handsome and extremely talented artist, Emmanuel (born Jesús Emmanuel Acha Martinez on April 16, 1955 in Mexico City). Emmanuel is a Mexican singer who has been around since the 1970s and can you believe that to be in his fifties he is still handsome?! Why are Latino men so darn sexy, I tell ya! I have always been an oldies but goodies girl. When I was younger and suffered my first heartbreak, I would sing, “Algo se derrumbo dentro de mi, dentro de mi…” :(  My sisters still make fun of me about that till this very day… this is the type of songs I like to call “corta venas” (vein cutting music) suicidal songs!
