Hate Crimes Surging within 48 hours of Trump’s Presidential Win

Just two days after America chose their new president, minorities are already experiencing hate crimes throughout the states. From Muslims to Latinos, victims are posting their experiences on social media. Ada Gonzalez is one of them:

It doesn’t stop there. Similar incidents are occurring throughout the nation:

Muslim Americans are being targeted:

A racist message was written on a wall in Durham, North Carolina stating, “Black lives don’t matter and neither does your votes.”

Donald Trump has stated before that his supporters are very “passionate.” At his victory speech he sang a different tune. He said:

“Now it is time for America to bind the wounds of division, have to get together. To all Republicans and Democrats and independents across this nation, I say it is time for us to come together as one united people. It is time. I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be President for all of Americans, and this is so important to me. For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I’m reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so that we can work together and unify our great country.”

Hatred has been incited, is it too late to mediate the problem? What will the newly elected president do to diffuse the anger, bigotry, and entitlement some of his supporters are channeling through their actions against the very people Trump wants to ban? Do share your thoughts.
