Latinos LOVE giving and receiving piropos. Piropos are compliments or flirtatious remarks that sometimes rhyme such as:
- Dios Mio, que esta pasando en el cielo que los angeles se estan cayendo? (My God what is going on in heaven that the angels are falling?)
- Dios bendiga la mata que hecho esa flor! (God bless the plant that bloomed that flower!)
- Si cocinas como caminas me como hasta el pegao! (If you cook the way you walk, I’ll even eat the crumbs!)
- Tantas curvas y yo sin frenos. (So many curves and me without any brakes.)
I got lost in translation! One example of a piropo in English is: If beauty were a sin, you’d never be forgiven. Aren’t they fun and flattering?! Do you know of any? If so, do share them with us in the comment section below!
