A customer at the Jefferson Mall in Louisville, KY berates a Latina woman in JCPenney who she claims cut her off in line. She yells, “I don’t care if everybody hears me. I think everybody here probably feels the same damn way I do. Go back to wherever the fuck you come from lady, tell them to go back where they belong. If they come here to live, then act like everyone else. Get to the back of the line like everybody else does and be somebody. You’re a nobody. Just because you come from another country, it doesn’t make you nobody. You’re probably on welfare. The taxpayers probably pay for all that stuff; we probably paid for every bit of that stuff. Speak English. You’re in America. If you don’t know it, learn it.” The video that has since gone viral was posted by Facebook user, Renee Buckner.
The woman who goes on a racist rant is yet to be identified. However, Jefferson Mall has made a public statement that once they learn who she is, she will be banned from the mall.
The Mayor of Louisville, Greg Fischer, addressed the incident stating the following:
“This is not who we are, and on behalf of our community, I apologize to the two women who were treated in such a horrible way. I hope this video prompts many discussions among families as they gather for the holidays this week — discussions about basic human values, dignity, and respect.”
