Our 5 Fave Books by African-American Authors

Our 5 Fave Books by African-American Authors

As an undergrad, I was an English major. My interests were Creative Writing and African-American literature, which meant I had to do lots of reading and writing. The good thing about it all is that I was introduced to unique literary pieces that I strongly feel are golden. And today, I'm sharing my top 5 fave books by African-American authors with you (plus a bonus one!). It was hard to narrow it down, but here they are:

  1. The Invisible Man, by Ralph Ellison
  2. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou
  3. The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison
  4. Go Tell It On the Mountain, by James Baldwin
  5. Native Son, by Richard Wright
  6. BONUS: Incidents In the Life of a Slave Girl, by Harriet Ann Jacobs (Short read and it's superb!)

These books are classics! They are really deep and inspirational. Some are over 500 pages, but I assure they are worth the read. Hope you get to enjoy them as much as I did. They're truly wonderful!
