LATINOS love Salsa entertainer Celia Cruz. Cruz was born in Havana, Cuba as Úrsula Hilaria Celia de la Caridad Cruz Alfonso on October 21, 1925. She died due to a cancerous brain tumor on July 16, 2003, at the age of 77. Celia Cruz traveled the world, but spent most of her life in New Jersey. The Grammy-award winner Jerseyan Salsera with twenty-three gold albums under her belt and is still known worldwide as the "Queen of Salsa".
Mostly recognized for her great energy, amazing stage presence, wonderful music, outrageous wigs and for shouting as she sang her songs "¡Azúcar!" ("Sugar!") She never had children. But was successful in her career and love life. She married Cuban-American musician, Pedro Knight Caraballo. She used to call him "su cabecita de algodon" (her little cotton head, because he had white hair).
