Latinos LOVE celebrating their daughter's Quinceañera (Sweet 15). A Quinceañera is when one celebrates a teenage girl's fifteenth birthday in a ceremony where she goes from being a child to becoming a woman. This is yet another excuse for us to drink, dance, "party hardy" my friend, and eat cake. This is a very special event for many of us that is also costly. The Quinceañera usually wears an elegant dress with a tiara. Okay, so most of the time the dress is quite elaborate, but that's the plan! Latino children who were born or raised in the states will follow the tradition, but may want a more contemporary festivity, preferring the Sweet 16. Did you have a Sweet 15?
